Balancing a Handmade Business, Markets, and Rest

Balancing a Handmade Business, Markets, and Rest

Do you ever find yourself carrying more than you realized—until your body forces you to pause?

This week was one of those for me. I came down with a cold in the middle of back-to-back market weekends, while prepping for my fall collection and keeping up with my full-time job. Even though my to-do list was a mile long, I ended up on the couch with my favorite chicken soup (from the Ambitious Kitchen cookbook—packed with ginger, turmeric, and herbs) and a gentle reminder to listen to my body.

I’m in a season where I care deeply about what I’m building—and I love it—but I’m doing it solo. So when I get sick or need to slow down, there’s no one to hand things off to. I still have to keep moving, even when my energy’s low—and that’s just the reality right now.

Maybe you’ve had a season like that too—when everything matters, but it’s hard to hold it all at once. This week reminded me that rest doesn’t have to be drawn out. It can look like a warm bowl of soup, extra sleep, or simply choosing to delay something a bit—like this email, which I decided to send a day later than usual.

Rest isn’t always convenient. But even a little bit can help you come back to yourself.

This week’s vlog is a mix of it all—market day moments, quiet time in the studio making earrings, and a few reflections at the end. You can watch it here:
